REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS RALLY Satanists, supporters, and people concerned about the erosion of reproductive rights will participate in The Satanic Temple’s Reproductive Rights Rally at the capital of a state where abortion rights are highly threatened. The state will be chosen using a donation campaign, and the winning state will be announced on October 31st. Currently, Indiana, the home state of anti-choice Vice President Mike Pence, is leading, followed closely by Georgia. It’s still early, and a few donations could place any of the other 11 highlighted states in contention to host the rally.

LOCATION OF THE BAPHOMET STATUE The eight-foot-tall bronze statue of Baphomet can be viewed in Salem, Massachusetts at The Satanic Temple headquarters during business hours. The headquarters also houses the Salem Art Gallery, which has on display the Belle Plaine, MN Veterans’ Memorial Monument. This is the first and only Satanic monument that has ever been approved for display on public property. Additionally, The Satanic Temple headquarters houses a library of Satanic literature, rare artwork, and a throne room. Salem is very busy during October, so plan your visit accordingly.

ARKANSAS TEN COMMANDMENTS LAWSUIT The Satanic Temple is an intervenor in a lawsuit over the Ten Commandments statue that was erected in Little Rock, Arkansas. While the ACLU and the Arkansas Society of Freethinkers want the Ten Commandments removed from government property, The Satanic Temple wants our statue of Baphomet to stand alongside the Ten Commandments as an alternative point of view. The case is moving forward, and state senator Jason Rapert (yes, that’s his real name), who sponsored the legislation that called for the installation of the Ten Commandments and arranged for its funding, will be deposed on September 12, 2018. Lucien Greaves will attend the deposition.
BROADCAST MEDIA BLACKOUT Despite pretenses of being open to different viewpoints, many major media figures have refused to report on The Satanic Temple’s activities or interview Lucien Greaves.
The very day that The Satanic Temple first sued the State of Missouri in a major lawsuit that seeks to expand reproductive liberties – as opposed to the myriad of lawsuits that merely seek to prevent further erosion of rights – Rachel Maddow of MSNBC devoted her evening show to the crisis of diminished abortion access, yet failed to even mention our lawsuit in her report. Beyond the deliberate slight, this is shoddy journalism.
Other media figures, such as Bill Maher, who invites opposition figures to his show and highlights this to celebrate his own virtue, nevertheless has refused to invite Lucien Greaves on his show despite outreach from our publicist and prompts from at least one notable guest.
We do not seek publicity for publicity’s sake and have been reticent to call attention to the media blackout. However, Lucien’s broadcast appearances have been very successful in conveying our message and clarifying our positions in the face of gross media distortion. For those who want to actively support TST, please reach out to major media broadcasters, inform them of your interest in TST, and politely ask them to consider reaching out to The Satanic Temple for comments or interviews on issues in which we are actively involved.
