SPANISH WINE WEEK WITH JOHN WILSON FRIDAY PICK |

MontRubí White 2019, Penedès |
The Penedès region lies just to the south of busy Barcelona. As well as being responsible for most of the Cava, Spain’s sparkling wine, it produces increasing quantities of red and white still wine. |
This wine is made from Xarel-lo, widely planted in Catalunya and one of Spain’s finest grape varieties. |
Tasting Note: A light elegant crisp white wine, a mere 12% in alcohol, suffused with fine green apple fruits, fresh herbs and pears. Subtle and very moreish.

Food Match: This would be prefect served on its own with some nibbles. Alternatively it would go well with light seafood starters; maybe some cured salmon or oysters? Please don’t serve it ice-cold; you will lose all those lovely delicate understated flavours. | |
