3 Nasty Ingredients to avoid in deodorants at all costs |
|
|
Hi, I'm a HUGE believer in using a natural deodorant. Personally, I think aluminium and nasty chemical antiperspirant & deodorant ingredients should be avoided at all costs. I spent over a year developing this product and spent a lot of time testing efficiency (esp. at the gym) to ensure I was 100% happy with the formulation and results. My natural Lemon Myrtle deodorant is a simple to use non-sticky roll-on that smells divine. Even better, it offers ALL DAY protection giving you the confidence to get on with your day knowing you are using a natural, safe product. See below the top 3 ingredients I believe everyone should avoid in deodorants. Have a great weekend, best wishes Larissa x |

1. Aluminium
While I have to admit there is not proof aluminium is to blame, breast cancer incidence tends to align with the use of products that contain the metal. Especially if you shave under your arms, applying a product containing aluminium to that broken skin could be bad news. I avoid deodorants that contain this ingredient at all costs.
2. Phthalates
These compounds help deodorant and other cosmeticsβsuch as fragranceβstick to your skin. They also appear to disrupt βandrogen function,β or the way your body produces and uses the hormone testosterone. For me, anything that could possibly disrupt my natural functions is a definite ingredient I avoid.
Phthalates are typically present in any product with a fragrance that lingers after itβs been used or applied; phthalates are partly what makes smells stick. That means that everything from body washes to shampoo to lotion to hairspray to soap.
3. Propylene Glycol Propylene glycol is used because it can increase absorption, allowing it to soak up stinky sweat. However, it is a highly irritating ingredient to skin that often causes rashes and allergic reactions. Even in very low concentrations, it is linked to aggravating the skin, which makes sense since this potent ingredient has origins as an antifreeze. Unfortunately, you have to really watch out for the existence of propylene glycol because it is widely used, even in some βnatural products.β
