We caught up with one of favorite pinups Marcia Dubois for a quick Q & A! Here's what she had to say:
GGR asks: "As a seasoned Pinup Model, what do you feel is the best advice for confidence in photoshoots?""
She says: "Ah, the age old question: how do we embrace our unique style and beauty and portray it to the world? Photoshoots can be amazing confidence boosters. Whether you intend the photos for publication or for personal use, every woman should do it at least once!
My first suggestion is do your research. Look at the famous photographers, models, and designers from the era that interests you. Find a look that speaks to you and take inspiration from it. Look at pinup posing guides; there are so many tricks to make you look your best. Posing can enhance your positive attributes and hide your negatives.
Learn what clothing looks best on your body type. I'm built like a 12-year-old boy, therefore I prefer fit and flair dresses to mimic curves. If you are a curvy girl, try a wiggle dress! Find an outfit that makes you feel like a goddess and then practice your poses in that outfit.
The best advice I have ever gotten on posing is: "If you can bend it, bend it!" This really helps avoid looking stiff. If you aren't used to doing your hair and makeup, pay a professional! But, most importantly, be you! Have fun! And it's never too late. I did my first shoot to celebrate my 50th birthday... in lingerie!"
Excellent advice, Marcia!! 💚 If you would like to be featured in our "Ask a Pinup" series, please email us for details. |
